Three differences that decide it

Beyond the price sheet.

a/

Windows and GPU: Vultr only

In our catalog Windows Server plans and NVIDIA GPU plans exist on Vultr only. If either is a requirement, the comparison is already over.

b/

Transfer allowances

Many Hetzner plans carry up to 20TB of monthly transfer; comparable Vultr tiers include 1 to 5TB. For bandwidth-heavy workloads that gap is real money.

c/

Plan variety at the low end

Vultr offers General Purpose, High Frequency and Dedicated CPU variants from $10 to $12; Hetzner counters with shared plans whose raw specs outclass the same budget.

Vultr vs Hetzner questions

Straight answers. Anything else, ask before you order.

Ask us a question first

01/Which is cheaper, Vultr or Hetzner?

For raw specs per dollar, Hetzner: its $10 entry plan carries 2 vCPU, 4GB RAM and 20TB of transfer where Vultr's $10 plan carries 1 vCPU, 1GB and 1TB. Vultr answers with more plan variants, 32 locations, Windows and GPUs, which Hetzner simply does not offer here.

02/Which has more locations?

Vultr by a wide margin: 32 locations across the Americas, Europe, Asia, Oceania, the Middle East and Africa, against Hetzner's five (Nuremberg, Helsinki, Virginia, Oregon, Singapore).

03/Can I run Windows on Hetzner?

Not in our catalog. Windows Server plans are available on Vultr (and on Amazon Lightsail). Hetzner plans here are Linux only.

04/Do I need separate Vultr and Hetzner accounts?

No. Through Initech both deploy from one account and one prepaid balance, payable by PayPal or 18 cryptocurrencies. You can run one of each and compare on your own workload.

05/Which should I pick for Europe?

If price for performance is the goal, Hetzner's Nuremberg and Helsinki plans are the strongest value on this page. If you need a specific market like London, Paris, Madrid, Stockholm or Warsaw, Vultr has a site in it.
