Vultr alternatives you can deploy today.
We resell Vultr and seven alternatives side by side: Hetzner, DigitalOcean, Amazon EC2 and Lightsail, Google Cloud, Alibaba Cloud and our own line. Same account, same prepaid balance, so trying an alternative is a deploy, not a migration project.
Three honest reasons to look beyond Vultr
Why people shop around: price, ecosystem, and coverage.
Price for the same spec
Hetzner in particular is known for aggressive EU value pricing. In our catalog both entry plans are $10, but Hetzner\'s buys 4 GB of RAM and 20 TB of transfer against Vultr\'s 1 GB and 1 TB, and the gap widens on larger specs. See the head-to-head for real numbers.
Ecosystem requirements
If a workload needs to live near AWS services, EC2 or Lightsail is the practical answer. We sell both, from $7 per month, without you opening an AWS account.
Coverage gaps
No single provider covers everything. Google Cloud adds 38 locations in our catalog, Alibaba covers Asia deeply and is our route into mainland China. Vultr stays our Windows and GPU line.
Vultr and the seven alternatives we sell
Side by side: entry price, locations we sell, and whether the line carries Windows or GPU.
Vultr Cloud VPS baseline
Widest location choice, every server type
Amazon Lightsail
Simple flat bundles on AWS hardware
Initech Linux VPS
Our own hardware in Baltimore, built to spec
Our retail pricing in USD per month; location counts are regions currently orderable in our catalog. Windows and GPU refer to lines we sell on that platform.
Where each one beats Vultr
The alternatives, one honest pick each.
Hetzner: the value pick
The strongest price-per-spec in our catalog, with EU heritage and US regions available. Fewer locations than Vultr and no Windows line, so it wins when the workload is Linux and the budget is tight.
Deploy Hetzner →AWS: the ecosystem pick
EC2 gives you 60 locations in our catalog and the full instance-type spectrum; Lightsail gives you fixed bundles including Windows from $19 with IPv4. The pick when your stack touches other AWS services.
Deploy EC2 →DigitalOcean: the developer favorite
Clean droplet lineup and predictable specs. It sits close to Vultr on price in our catalog, so the choice usually comes down to region fit and preference.
Deploy DigitalOcean →Google Cloud: the network pick
38 locations in our catalog on Google backbone. Higher entry price, strongest global reach after EC2 in what we sell.
Deploy Google Cloud →Alibaba: the Asia pick
Deep Asia-Pacific coverage, and our separate mainland China line for workloads that must live inside China. Not something Vultr offers at all.
Deploy Alibaba →Initech custom: the exact-spec pick
Our own line: pick vCPU, RAM, SSD and bandwidth independently instead of buying a fixed plan. One US location today.
Deploy Initech →Choosing a Vultr alternative
Straight answers. Anything else, ask before you order.
01/Is Hetzner actually cheaper than Vultr?
At the entry level both start at $10 per month in our catalog, but the Hetzner CX23 buys 4 GB of RAM and 20 TB of transfer where Vultr\'s $10 plan buys 1 GB and 1 TB, and Hetzner keeps offering more RAM per dollar as specs grow. Vultr counters with six times the locations plus Windows and GPU lines. The head-to-head page has the full plan tables.
02/I need Windows. Which alternatives support it?
In our catalog, Windows Server runs on Vultr (from $52 per month) and Amazon Lightsail (from $19 per month with IPv4, $14.25 IPv6 only). If you are leaving Vultr but keeping Windows, Lightsail is the alternative.
03/Do I need a new account to try an alternative?
No. Every platform here deploys from the same Initech account and the same prepaid balance. Spin up a Hetzner or EC2 server next to your existing Vultr one, compare, keep what wins.
04/Which alternative has the most locations?
Amazon EC2, with 60 locations currently orderable in our catalog, followed by Google Cloud at 38. Vultr itself covers 32 for Linux plans.
05/Can I pay for any of these in crypto?
Yes. Every platform we sell is payable from the same balance, and the balance can be topped up in Bitcoin, Monero and 16 other coins, or with PayPal. No card required.
Try the alternative next to the original
8 platforms, 126 locations, one prepaid balance. Deploy both and let the workload decide.
