How do I connect to the server?
Over standard RDP from any Remote Desktop client on Windows, macOS or Linux. The server address and Administrator credentials are emailed to you when installation finishes.
How long until my Windows server is online?
Windows installs take longer than Linux: roughly 15 minutes from order to first RDP login on Vultr, and a few minutes on Lightsail. Provisioning is fully automated either way.
Which Windows Server versions can I choose?
On Vultr: Windows Server 2016, 2019, 2022 and 2025, in Standard or Datacenter edition, with Desktop Experience or Core. On Lightsail: Server 2016, 2019 and 2022, including SQL Server 2019/2022 Express bundles.
Why do prices start at $14.25 on one platform and $52 on the other?
They are different products. Lightsail Windows bundles are fixed-size instances at a budget price point; Vultr Windows VPS plans carry more compute and scale much higher. Pick by workload, both are payable in crypto.
